Ippogrifo Stampe d’Arte

This is one of my all-time favorite Florentine shops and is located in the artisan district called the Oltrarno (or other side of the Arno) in the Santo Spirito neighborhood. It’s a family-run shop led by Gianni Raffaelli and his wife, Francesca, and their son, Duccio.

They employ the very technical and time-intensive lithography method to produce incredible pieces of art right there in the studio. Next time you’re in town, stop by to meet them and see them at work. The last time I was there, I made a video that explains the process (right). You can also request a custom-made piece based on a photo – maybe of your favorite pet or of your home, etc. How cool is that?!
